Preparing for the upcoming Astronomy & Astrophysics and Solar & Space Physics Decadals
Preparing for the upcoming Astronomy & Astrophysics and Solar & Space Physics Decadals
Session ID#: 42767
Session Description:
At the time of the TESS/SPD meeting, the preparations for the next Astronomy and Astrophysics (A&A) Decadal will be well underway. The call for White Papers occurs near the time of the meeting or slightly afterward. Simultaneously, the Solar and Space Physics (S&SP) Decadal will start running its Midterm Assessment. Soon after the publication of the A&A Decadal, the preparations for the new S&SP Decadal will begin. Ground-based solar physics has traditionally had a presence in the A&A Decadal whereas space solar physics and heliophysics fall more into the S&SP survey, but the boundaries between the two surveys intersect in important ways. This meeting is intended to explain to the Solar and Heliospheric community the timing for the Decadals and to understand the purview of each. The meeting agenda will include presentations related to the Decadal process itself, and an open call for science-driven community ideas.
