Preparing for a Solar Polar Mission
Preparing for a Solar Polar Mission
Session ID#: 42857
Session Description:
Our current understanding of the Sun, its atmosphere, and the connection to the heliosphere is severely limited by the lack of good observations of the polar regions. An extended view of the high latitude regions of the Sun is the only method to obtain crucial observations not possible from the ecliptic viewpoint or from any other existing or planned mission. This workshop seeks to develop a community discussion on the science and mission implementation of a solar polar mission. It is crucial to start these discussions now, ahead of the preparations for the next Solar and Space Physics Decadal Survey. The meeting agenda will include presentations related to the itself, and an open call for science-driven community ideas.
