Abstract:
This study investigates urban parameterization using a CFD model. The atmospheric flow and other meteorological elements within urban canopy is quite influenced by buildings. For this, bulk geometric parameters represented in terms of building information are calculated using the GIS data. The bulk geometric parameters include the plan and frontal area fractions of buildings, average building height, maximum building height, and standard deviation of building height. These parameters have significant correlation among them. The effects of buildings on flow speed were analyzed. As the plan fraction of building becomes low and the frontal fraction of building becomes high, roughness length and displacement height become increase. The results show that momentum flux is larger in denser and taller canopies. Urban parameterization method would be presented in detail.
