JTRF2013: Plans, Progress, and Results
Abstract:
A Kalman filter, KALREF, will be used to determine a combined terrestrial reference frame (TRF) using the input SINEX files produced by the IAG Services for ITRF2013. Using a Kalman filter allows the TRF to be obtained by combining on a weekly basis time series of station positions and Earth orientation parameters. A core set of globally distributed reference stations that have long (> 3 years) observing histories, a minimum number of discontinuities, and that are unaffected by post-seismic displacements will be used to define the frame. Carefully choosing this set of defining stations allows their geophysical motion to be accurately modeled by a superposition of just linear displacements, harmonic seasonal modes, and when needed, a few discontinuities. Datum specifications (origin, scale and orientation) of the resulting frame will be discussed and comparisons to ITRF2008 will be shown.
