H24A:
Complexities of Flow and Transport in Porous Media across Diverse Disciplines III

Session ID#: 10527

Session Description:
Many advances in our understanding of porous media science have been made in geological systems, where single/multiphase flow and reactive transport are the dominant physical processes. Porous media processes are also important to many industrial and biological applications, such as fuel cells, paper pulp drying, microfluidic pumps, food production, filtration, textiles, plants, hygiene products, and biological tissues. However, there is limited scientific discussion related to similarities in underlying governing physical phenomena in these diverse disciplines. This session will serve as a platform to bring together scientists who investigate flow and transport in porous media in various disciplines to discuss recent advances. This will include theoretical and experimental studies, visualization methods, and numerical models.
