SM12A:
Bow Shock, Magnetosheath, Magnetopause, and Mid-Tail Processes and Their Role in Solar Wind-Magnetosphere Coupling I
Session ID#: 11098
Session Description:
The coupling and processing of plasma and energy from the bow shock through the magnetosheath and to the magnetopause is the focus of this session. In recent years a significant number of spacecraft and ground-based instruments have sampled these regions with both in situ and remote observations. Modeling and theoretical efforts have also contributed to advance our recent understanding of the physics occurring in these regions. The session will focus on processing of plasma within these regions and along these boundaries as well as how it may impact the coupling of plasma and energy into the magnetosphere.
