Social Dimensions of Geoscience Pop-Up Session

Session ID#: 12017

Session Description:
Broader participation in the geosciences has the untapped potential to promote diversity and equality while tackling complex, contemporary issues. As constituents of the scientific community, it is our responsibility to initiate a discussion on social factors underlying our work. This session provides the forum for AGU members to share success stories, discuss challenges, and call for future directions related to the social dimensions of the geosciences in 5 minute pitches. Topics may include, but are not limited to, gender and racial equality, interdisciplinary research, use-inspired science, community participation, science communication, and environmental policy. This Pop-Up Session will have both student and early career scientist speakers.
