H43H:
Remote Sensing and Modeling of the Terrestrial Water Cycle II Posters

Session ID#: 7419

Session Description:
In the past decade there have been many satellite missions dedicated to measuring various components of the terrestrial water cycle. These missions include SMOS, AMSR2 and SMAP for soil moisture; TRMM and GPM for precipitation; TOPEX and SWOT (planned) for water level; AIRS/AMSU for atmospheric water vapor and air temperature profiles; GRACE for water storage changes and MODIS for vegetation and surface temperature. Advances in the areas of remote sensing and modeling allowed the integration of these two approaches and the use of multiple sensors and variables simultaneously to better understand the spatial and temporal dynamics of the water cycle and the available water resources at various scales. This session invites multi-scale, multi-variable and multi-sensor studies that use remote sensing techniques and modeling approaches to assess the spatiotemporal variability in water resources and study the terrestrial water cycle. These include (but are not limited to) precipitation-vegetation-soil moisture relationships from GPM-SMAP-MODIS.
