V11B:
Peridotite Records of Mantle Dynamics Posters

Session ID#: 7807

Session Description:
Mantle peridotites inform our understanding of the physical and chemical evolution of Earth’s interior. Recent advances in analytical methods and the development of novel geochemical tools allow us to unravel the histories of peridotites in unprecedented detail. This session aims to integrate studies of ophiolitic peridotites, abyssal peridotites and mantle xenoliths, placing constraints on mantle dynamics. Abstracts on field and experimental studies relevant to melt migration, melt-rock reaction, trace element partitioning, diffusion, or other mantle-related topics are encouraged, as well as models that can be used to improve understanding of the physical, chemical, and thermal evolution of Earth’s mantle. Emphasis will be placed on contributions that combine field studies, experimental work, and/or numerical models to interpret samples in new ways, and studies of petrologic, geochemical, or isotopic variations at the grain, outcrop, or whole-mantle scale that inform us about dynamic processes in the mantle.
