H51I:
Integrated Large-Scale Observations and Experiments: From Bedrock to Boundary Layer I Posters

Session ID#: 8190

Session Description:
A fundamental challenge in hydrological sciences is understanding how pore- to hillslope-scale processes aggregate to control environmental response to variable forcings at larger scales. Advances in instrumentation and experimental methods over the past several decades have lead to new multi-scale, high space-time resolution datasets that have tremendous potential to address this challenge.  This session solicits studies that demonstrate advances in experimental approach and instrumentation to both advance our conceptual understanding and our ability to evaluate and refine mechanistic models of the terrestrial energy, water, carbon, and nutrient fluxes. Specific networks of interest are the Long-Term Agro-Ecosystem Research network, the Long-Term Ecological Research networks, Critical Zone Observatory Network, USGS, USDA and USFS catchments, NSF-WSC Category 3, Ameriflux, GPS and other national scale networks. Specific field experiments of interest include IPHEX, SLAPEX15, and SMAPVEX15.
