Results of the Deep Fault Drilling Project (DFDP), Alpine Fault, New Zealand II Posters

Session Description:
The Deep Fault Drilling Project, Alpine Fault, aims to measure conditions within a mature active fault zone likely to rupture in the near future, and to elucidate the processes governing earthquake rupture and long-term fault evolution. Boreholes that have now been put down at two sites (Gaunt Creek, DFDP-1 in 2011; Whataroa River, DFDP-2 in 2014) have yielded rich datasets of rock and fluid samples from progressively greater depths and measurements of thermal, hydrological, and stress perturbations associated both with topographic relief and the deeper seismogenic crust. We elicit presentations based on studies of samples and data from both phases of drilling so far accomplished, as well as from studies related to future planned boreholes and more broadly associated with the project.
