IN23A:
Awareness, Access, and Management of Airborne Science Data Posters

Session ID#: 8558

Session Description:
The use of airborne missions is growing, as shown by efforts undertaken by NASA, NSF, NOAA, and other agencies. These and other missions are frequently used as a cost effective means to gather Earth science data.  But the resulting data is large, complex, diverse and often difficult to manage in a manner that supports discovery, access and use by the science community.   In response to these data management issues, data centers, airborne science teams, and user communities are making efforts to improve their capabilities.  This includes the use of metadata geared toward airborne missions with limited spatiotemporal coverage, visualization and analysis capabilities, tools for subsetting across data products, and other capabilities that ease the time and effort required to access, use and manage such data.  This session seeks papers that describe airborne data management challenges, as well as progress made, experiences, ideas and lessons learned in enhancing airborne data systems.
