PP53C:
Multiproxy Records for Climatic and Oceanic Reconstructions II Posters

Session ID#: 8617

Session Description:
Combining proxies with a common environmental forcing allows researchers to extract the common signal, while reducing reconstruction uncertainty. Multiproxy reconstructions include combining proxy records from the same archive (e.g., foraminifera δ18O and Mg/Ca), unique archives with the same variable (e.g., coral δ18O and speleothem δ18O), the same proxy from several locations (e.g., coral Sr/Ca in the Pacific), or any combination therein (e.g., pseudo and geochemical proxies). Combining records with differing resolutions is challenging, yet may reveal unique results not possible with a single archive. We encourage abstracts involving multiproxy reconstructions that explore climatic and oceanic variability on timescales from subannual to millennial and abstracts that assess the methods and related uncertainty in producing reconstructions based on multiple proxies.
