Groundwater-Surface Water Interactions: Identifying and Integrating Physical, Biological, and Chemical Processes III Posters

Session Description:
Groundwater-Surface Water (GW-SW) interactions and their ecological functions occur at a range of scales, involving complex, nested, and coupled processes. Understanding the significance of these interactions, including water resource and ecological conservation value requires the ability to identify and integrate hydrologic, geomorphic, biogeochemical, and management principles. Despite the rapid growth of GW-SW interaction research over the past few decades, the prediction and scaling of interacting processes, let alone individual processes, is still highly uncertain due to the difficulties in quantifying coupled physical, chemical, and biological processes. This session strives to link GW-SW investigators and their study of specific processes to facilitate a more holistic understanding of complex GW-SW processes (e.g., identifying linkages, but also ways to deconvolve complex signals into individual processes). Within this session, the conveners will organize thematic sub-sessions based upon research trying to better identify and integrate physical, biological, and chemical processes through observations, experiments, and models.
