Abstract:
In this brief talk I will review recent improvements in the performance of long-range lightning detection networks (LLDNs). Recent efforts to refine the relationship between lightning and convective rainfall over the oceans will also be discussed. Finally, progress in applying the real-time data streams from LLDN’s in nowcasting and numerical weather prediction will be reviewed.
