Abstract:
Fabry-Perot interferometer (FPI) has been operating at Jang Bogo Station (JBS), Antarctica since its installation in March 2014, to observe the neutral winds and temperature in the polar upper atmosphere. JBS is located at Terra Nova Bay in Antarctica, which exists within polar cap or inner boundary of the auroral region, depending on local time and magnetic activity. Recently, there were two great storms in March and Jun 2015, both reaching high Kp of 8. We will present the results of FPI observations for neutral winds and temperature at three different altitud (87km, 93km, and 250km) during these storm periods. Also presented is the preliminary analysis of the observed data to study the differences in the response of the neutral atmosphere to severe storms at different altitude levels in the polar region.
