From Traceability to Reproducibility: the Focus of Earth Science Provenance

Abstract:

Different levels of provenance documentation enable different use cases. From very high level references of supporting research, to
very detailed workflows and descriptions of software and compute environments, each contributes to various aspects of those use cases. The scientific agencies of the United States have issued guidance for ensuring the quality of data and information that they release. This presentation will share some current approaches for addressing the
various levels of provenance representation up to the National Climate Assessment, a "highly influential scientific assessment," warranting the highest level of compliance.
