Abstract:
Groundwater responses following several great earthquakes were analyzed, we identified five types of groundwater level responses and two types of post-seismic responses. Based on tidal response in water level, we tested the various mechanisms that proposed by previous studies. We find that permeability changes in the aquifer can only explain one third of the co-seismic response, while other responses are caused by the permeability changes near the wellbore.
