Abstract:
We installed and tested the automated system for running realtime simulations of the solar corona (SC) and inner heliosphere (IH) using the newest SWMF AWSoM model. This model is powered by the Alfven wave turbulence with the physical description of the wave reflection and cascade. Once a day a new simulation of the SC and IH starts using the latest GONG magnetogram. The modeling is performed and the results are stored on a CCMC cluster (10 designated nodes, 16 processors each, altogether 160 CPU are used). The run duration is about eleven hours. The real time simulation with the help of SWMF AWSoM model at the CCMC currently provides a daily forecast of the solar wind parameters at the Earth trajectory. The results of the simulation will be compared daily to the ACE observations. This will allow to tune up the model free parameters and will help to improve the model performance. ENLIL model will be coupled to the solar corona part of the SWMF model in future. The coupled model prediction will be continuously validated with the ACE measurements of the solar wind.
