Abstract:
We will discuss fully implicit time discretizations
for Discontinuous Galerkin methods applied to atmospheric flow.
In particular, we consider Jacobian-free Newton-Krylov solvers
based on a matrix-free implementation strategy. We will give
some ideas on how to incorporate proper preconditioning for the
Krylov solver into this framework. A comparison of different implicit
time stepping methods for standard nonhydrostatic test cases such as
the density current or inertia gravity waves will be presented.
