Abstract:
Climate Models are becoming ever more complex, comprehensive and costly. The computational infrastructure needed to produce and analyze simulations with these models is also becoming more complex. In this talk I will touch upon some of the challenges and strategies that are being adopted in preparation for the next generation of climate models, focusing on: 1) the issues of model assessment and calibration(tuning); 2) archival and analysis strategies of simulations; 3) building confidence that the software is actually representing the intended continuous equations; and 4) remaining limits to progress.
