Abstract:
The JPL developed Carbon Dioxide Laser Absorption Spectrometer, CO2LAS remotely measures the weighted, column averaged carbon dioxide between an aircraft and the ground using a continuous-wave heterodyne technique operating at a wavelength of 2.05 micron wavelength. We present measurements of small scale carbon dioxide variability collected during the course of multiple ASCENDS field campaign flights in the vicinity of power plants, small towns and major roads and discuss how these types of measurements can be validated and improved in future campaigns.
