Interpreting the Geometry, Rheology, and Deformation Mechanisms of the Slow Earthquake Source II Posters

Session Description:
Over the last decade, slow fault slip phenomena such as slow slip, tremor, and low and very-low frequency earthquakes have been observed in an increasing number of geographical locations and tectonic settings, over an increasing range of pressure-temperature conditions. To better understand the mechanism(s) of slow earthquakes, we suggest a need to compare and contrast data sets from a range of disciplines, including, but not limited to, observational geodesy and seismology, field and microstructural fault zone studies, rock deformation experiments, and numerical models. In particular, we welcome interdisciplinary presentations that address the thickness and geometry of the deforming zone, constrain source parameters, and/or identify likely material properties, possible deformation mechanisms, and permissible fault zone friction and rheology parameters.
