Session ID#: 12787
Session Description:
Exploration and exploitation of geothermal heat and subsurface fluid storage capacity provide opportunities to increase energy options, energy market and supply flexibility, and decrease greenhouse gas emissions. We are seeking contributions from theoretical and technological advances that address site selection, characterization and data integration, fracture stimulation, reservoir simulation, operational strategies, and fluid-induced seismicity. We encourage presentations on modeling tools that integrate thermal, mechanical, geophysical, chemical and hydrological processes for geothermal design and simulation, stimulation predictions and trigged induced seismicity, thermal and chemical tracers, working fluid selection, geochemical reactions with surrounding rock, and integration into the broader energy system. Presentations on the economic benefits of reservoir heat extraction, energy storage and dispatch management for large scale power plant are highly encouraged.
