Session Description:
This session will focus on recent advancements of societally-engaged hydrology research, especially where framed as ‘sociohydrology’ (i.e., study of the dynamic interactions between human and hydrological systems). We seek contributions that highlight interdisciplinary approaches to sociohydrology for the development of water management practices that are both sustainable and equitable for communities and natural ecosystems.

We welcome contributions that present novel approaches to hydrologic research that are applicable and relevant for local communities and stakeholder groups, with the overarching goal of improving freshwater security in a changing world. These can include:

  • Engagement of stakeholders to support integration of local knowledge and planning of viable adaptation strategies for changing conditions, such as through participatory hydrology and citizen science
  • Communication strategies of complex hydrologic results to local stakeholders
  • Interdisciplinary approaches to sociohydrology

Methods and technologies may include, but are not limited to: modeling, remote sensing, field-based analysis, measurement techniques, etc.
