Session Description:
An understanding of contaminant, engineered nanoparticle as well as microorganism fate is essential for assessing environmental risk in addition to developing site conceptual models prior to remediation. This session will focus on understanding the mobility and fate of both particles and solutes across the natural and engineered environment. Emphasis will be placed on microorganisms, colloids, nanoparticles, and trace organic contaminants (e.g., pharmaceuticals, personal care products, flame retardants, endocrine disruptors, pesticides). Studies describing results from laboratory experiments and field-scale observations, as well as those related to model development and upscaling are welcomed. Areas of application may range broadly from ecosystem health to environmental remediation.
