Session ID#: 12888

Session Description:
Basic understanding of the dynamic evolution of our planet is linked to knowledge of the physical properties of the relevant solid materials. This session is dedicated to studies of the deformation, diffusion, electrical conductivity, and other kinetic properties of geomaterials. These transport processes are linked to each other by the thermodynamic properties and point defect chemistry of the minerals, providing an integrated understanding and cross-calibration of the measurements and calculations. This session emphasizes a broad perspective with insights from both experimental and computational studies as well as theoretical connections between the different transport properties.
