Session Description:
The ecohydrology of terrestrial ecosystems constitutes of diverse and complex interactions between soil processes, plant physiology and ecology, and variable atmospheric drivers. The session welcomes experimental and modeling studies that enhance our understanding of the hydrological and biogeochemical cycling between the various compartments of the soil-plant-atmosphere system. As such, we invite submissions that deepen our understanding of the ecohydrology of ecosystems by focusing on: (1) the effects of stressors on water and biogeochemical cycling; (2) plant-soil interactions; (3) biosphere-atmosphere interactions; (4) microbial biogeochemistry; and (5) the multi-faceted feedbacks between plants and their surroundings. We especially invite contributions that present state of the art methods, applications and process interpretations using stable isotopes in the critical zone. The session aims to foster interdisciplinary exchange and studies that seek to cross disciplinary boundaries and reveal new process understanding are especially welcome.
