The Dynamical Processes of Stratosphere-Troposphere Interactions and Their Relationship with Climate I Posters

Session Description:
In recent years, it has become evident that stratospheric variability has impacts on weather and climate patterns at the Earth's surface on a range of timescales. Given the amplitude of these changes, it is important to understand the cause and effect relationship in the patterns of the variability. This session will focus on advancing our mechanistic understanding of the two-way coupling between the troposphere and the stratosphere in the present climate as well as the evolving nature of these interactions in a changing climate. Abstracts involving theoretical, modeling, and observational studies of the mechanisms underlying stratosphere-troposphere interactions, the role of stratospheric changes in present and future climates, and the physics of annular modes are all encouraged. Additionally, the importance of transport processes and of interactive chemistry in model studies in correctly capturing these interactions are also solicited.
