Adding Health to Climate Literacy: Insights into the USGCRP Climate Health Assessment for the Geoscience Community

Session Description:
The processes and impacts of climate change that are studied by a broad spectrum of AGU members have major implications for human health. These impacts have been described in the recently released USGCRP report “Impacts of Climate Change on Human Health in the United States: A Scientific Assessment.” This session will provide an overview of climate change impacts from the health perspective, explore the use of climate data for disease early warning systems and for other decision support tools, discuss bringing climate change and health information into STEM education, and examine new research gaps and need for climate and health. AGU members will gain an understanding of where how their work has helped increase our understanding of climate change impacts on human health and where their input is needed in the future to better address the health issues.
