Session Description:
This session focuses on observational, theoretical and modeling studies that advance the understanding and projection of glacier mass changes to recent and future climate change. We encourage studies on all spatial scales from individual glaciers to mountain-scale glacier systems to the global-scale. The range of topics includes, but is not limited to, processes and modeling of all components of a glacier’s mass balance, as well as the mass and energy exchange at the glacier-atmosphere boundary, new approaches to model the geometric adjustments of a glacier due to altered mass balance, integration of glaciers into climate models, approaches to downscale climate data for use in mass-balance models, and simulation or projection of glacier changes through time.
