Session Description:
Processes responsible for ozone laminae include stratosphere-troposphere exchange, shallow and deep convection, orographic effects, synoptic systems, fire-plume rise and transport, lightning-nox, and other processes. Across a broad spectrum of scales, from global to Large Eddy Simulation models, our ability to quantitatively capture the measured evolution of these plumes is rather limited. As our measurement capability and inventory increases from its infancy to a significant sample (e.g., DISCOVER-AQ Houston and Colorado, Uinta Basin, Chesapeake Bay, Huntsville, Table Mountain, CA, Hampton Roads, et al.) from aircraft and lidar (surface and airborne) measurements, our ability to diagnose processes quantitatively also increases. This session invites paper to explore those processes that produces the rich variety of ozone laminae that are frequently measured in the troposphere.
