Session Description:
The data collected to understand the Earth and its various systems can come in different forms.  Increasingly these data are accessed through the web from multiple distributed data stores.  Before analysis can take place, various data processing, interpolation and other process are often required to convert these data into a client specific grid representation. This can lead to the introduction of errors due to the different resolutions, style and structure of the original data compared to the that of the client grids. The emergence of new grid infrastructures, such as Discrete Global Grid Systems, is driving the development of new approaches that allow for fast visualization, fusion and sharing of data that can scale appropriately through multiple resolutions from local to global scales. This session seeks papers that discuss and showcase grid-based solutions that improve data exchange and visualization of Big Earth Data.
