Beyond the Interannual: Multidecadal and Centennial Modes of Climate Variability II Posters

Session Description:
Climate variability on longer time scales may alter how Earth’s climate evolves in the future, but such variability remains imperfectly understood.  What evidence is there for climate variability at timescales longer than the interannual?  What mechanisms drive variability at these longer time scales, and what evidence supports these drivers?  What role does coupling between the atmosphere and ocean play?  And what impact do these modes of variability have on current climate evolution on a warming planet?  This session seeks to address these questions and others that pertain to the evolution of climate on multidecadal and centennial time scales.  We welcome submissions on identifying these modes of variability, mechanisms behind these modes, the stationarity of these modes, and interactions of these modes with the current secular (anthropogenically-induced) trend.  Observational studies, modeling studies, or studies that are a mix of the two, are welcome.
