Session Description:
The potential consequences of climate change for river environments makes the need to understand the mechanisms controlling river temperature patterns more crucial than ever. While recent years have seen significant advances in river temperature research, there remains a lack of information focusing on the drivers and processes responsible for river temperature patterns across multiple temporal and spatial scales. Thus, addressing this key knowledge gap is essential to increase scientific understanding for fluvial environments and for mitigating/adapting to the effects of climate change on river ecosystems. This session will serve as a forum to bring together recent research on this topic, addressing current knowledge shortfalls and identifying directions for future investigation. We invite presentations covering all aspects of research into river temperature dynamics. Papers focusing on novel river temperature monitoring methodologies or the linkages between temperature and ecological patterns are welcome.
