Session Description:
Temporary (i.e. ephemeral and intermittent) streams play an important role in the transformation, retention, and transport of solutes, water, and materials in stream networks. This session seeks to bring together researchers who are studying where and how temporary streams form as well as the function they provide within the broader hydrologic and ecological landscape. We invite contributions that explore the seasonality of streamflow generation processes in these landscapes and the associated ecological and biogeochemical ramifications. Contributions that incorporate policy implications, remote sensing, geomorphic controls, and new tools and indicators for assessing the hydrological, chemical, and biological impact of temporary stream activation are strongly encouraged. We welcome submissions that address these themes in any climatic region or across any spatial or temporal scales.
