Session Description:
The direct influence of climate change on precipitation and surface water, as well as indirect effects of climate-induced human activity, will have profound impacts on subsurface hydrology. This session seeks presentations that advance our understanding of the effects of climate change on (i) subsurface hydrology, such as hydraulic properties in the vadose zone and groundwater recharge; (ii) fate and transport of carbon, nutrients, and contaminants in the subsurface; and (iii) innovative strategies to mitigate the direct and indirect climate-induce impacts (e.g. urban subsurface hydrology; innovative agricultural management practices). Laboratory and field data, as well as computational simulations, are all welcomed.
