Session Description:
Antarctica is one of the critical components of the global climate system due to its contribution to global energy and water budget as well as its socio-economic impacts. However, our understanding of the temporal and spatial variability of important meteorological parameters over Antarctica, and the processes (both local and large-scale) driving them on sub-seasonal to multi-decadal timescales, is limited due to the paucity of in-situ observations and dedicated modelling studies. This severely limits our understanding of present-day and future climate trends, as well as long-term climatology.  We solicit abstracts on all of these aspects of Antarctic atmosphere. We encourage contributions using observations, reanalysis, reconstructions, proxy data and models. We also encourage submissions focussed on atmospheric forcing of the Antarctic cryosphere and ocean.
