Advances in GNSS Remote Sensing of Atmosphere, Land, and Ocean Posters

Session Description:
The scientific benefits of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) radio occultation (RO) observations are well-documented, from their positive impact on numerical weather prediction to their value in climate monitoring.  RO instruments are now deployed on the operational weather satellites from Europe and China, while next-generation receivers on the FORMOSAT-7/COSMIC-2 satellites to be launched in 2017 are designed to track multiple GNSS constellations including GPS and GLONASS. Furthermore, observations of reflected GNSS signals from the orbiting UK-TDS1, the NASA Earth Venture Mission CYGNSS, and the ESA GEROS-ISS mission, offer new and exciting ways to measure surface properties such as ocean surface wind and soil moisture. This session seeks contributions that advance the state-of-the-art in GNSS remote sensing, including applications in weather, climate, hydrology, ocean sciences, and cryosphere.  We welcome presentations utilizing ground-based GNSS observations as well as non-GNSS signals of opportunity and future mission concepts involving constellation of small satellites.
