Making an Impact: Stories, Tips, and Lessons Learned from Collaborating with Communities III Posters

Session Description:
Collaborations between scientists and communities can benefit both. They enrich research, broaden participation, diversify career paths, and generate public support for science.  For communities, these collaborations solve local challenges, introduce opportunities, advance policy objectives, and expand community capacity to ensure equity and environmental justice.  These collaborations are not easy; collaborators need to work hard to align incentives, find and share resources, balance priorities, and navigate cultural and practical differences.

This session will explore ways to overcome these challenges and build effective, impactful collaborations.  We encourage contributions with both community and scientific voices.  We seek contributions of all kinds: case studies, meta-analyses of effective collaborations, overviews of training and student programs, and reflections from people that guide science-community collaborations. We also invite examinations of specific challenges, like how to share data without stigmatizing a population or how to move from scientific results to community action.
