Global Change: Extreme Events and Societal Impacts II Posters

Session Description:
What is/are the implication of projected climate warming scenarios for frequency, duration and magnitude of extreme events? How do these events may affect socioeconomic conditions at the global, regional and national level, for different sectors of economy? What is the role of science in providing useful and relevant information to decision makers, in a timely manner, to manage the risks and realize the future opportunities. We propose to convene a Panel of experts representing those who need the science-based information for decisions, those who provide this information, and those who have been facilitating the knowledge and communication gap in between the first two communities. We will choose two or three themes (e.g. extremes and hazards) to identify the speakers and organize the session. We envision a total of no more than 6 panelists for a 120 minute panel discussion session.
