Session Description:
Grand challenges requires cross-domain collaboration in terms of planning observations, sensor systems, building data interoperability and open data implementation, and broad access to information and research facilities. Signification of this effort was recognized in the NSF’s strategic plan and more recently in 2015 Sustainable Development Goals summit.

This session will address the recent developments in science infrastructures / observatories. It will examine the opportunities for collaboration in key geoscience and environmental areas on SDG priorities and environmental challenges.

We invite submissions from initiatives and projects in the geoscience communities to discuss their cross-disciplinary research experiences, best practices, case studies, and lessons learned to move forward in future collaborations.
