The Second State of the Carbon Cycle Report (SOCCR-2): Assessing the Last Decades' Science of the Carbon Cycle across North America and Adjacent Oceans I Posters

Session Description:
The Carbon Cycle Interagency Working Group, via the U.S. Carbon Cycle Science Program, is leading the 2nd State of the Carbon Cycle Report (SOCCR-2) as a Sustained National Climate Assessment Product of the U.S. Global Change Research Program. To be released in 2017, SOCCR-2 examines the last decade’s trends, drivers, and projections of U.S. and North American carbon cycle processes, stocks, and flows in the context of interactions with global scale budgets and climate change impacts in managed and unmanaged systems. This session focuses on SOCCR-2’s assessment of interconnected terrestrial, hydrological, coastal, and atmospheric carbon cycles, illustrating human dimensions and interactions, e.g. urban and agricultural systems, highlighting  consequences of increasing atmospheric CO2, e.g. ocean acidification. Pertinent carbon management science and tools for informing decisions, as addressed in the White House Climate Action Plan and U.S. Carbon Cycle Science Plan, and opportunities for improving carbon measurements, observations, and projections are included.
