Linking Earth Systems Data to Better Address Societal Challenges: A View of the Earth from the Interior to the Edge of Space Supported by Data to Bring Enhanced Understanding

Session Description:
Our Earth yields information to those who are able to master the syntax of its language, enabling a view of the past, assessment of the present and predictions of the future. The language of the Earth is Science. Science, especially Geoscience, is data driven; therefore this session will be a platform to showcase state-of-the art methods in data acquisition, use, attribution and preservation. Speakers will be asked to include 1-2 slides on data availability and introductions will emphasize this aspect. Focus of this session will be on key Earth systems, data and the important societal challenges these topics and systems represent. This session solicits papers from those who can make connections across these topics and is inspired by the Whole Earth Catalog: Brand, S. (1968-1972).
