Session Description:
Society benefits from the data and products derived from Earth observing (EO) systems, but our ability to identify and quantify those benefits is challenging. Geospatial data and associated products are an integral input into the many decisions associated with ecosystem management and restoration, disaster management, climate impact assessments and, land use planning.  The impact of geospatial data on decisions is not well characterized, and therefore challenging to assign a true value to the observations as well as asses how to improve the availability and usability of the data and related products.  This session will seek to identify and compare methods for assessing the impact and societal benefit of EO systems, data, and data products on end users.  Methodological case studies that describe the process for assessing the impacts of geospatial information on decisions associated with ecosystems or disaster management, climate impact assessments, and land use planning are of interest.
