Session Description:
Anthropogenic activities result in water pollution and degrade water quality in rivers. Combined sewer overflows (CSOs), stormwater runoff and effluents from wastewater treatment plant are the primary sources of contamination in rivers and estuaries.  Nutrients (phosphorus, nitrogen, ammonia), heavy metals (mercury, cadmium, lead), bacteria (fecal coliform, E.Coli., enterococcus), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), dioxin, pesticides, as well as other inorganic/organic pollutants have been discharged into the river, caused water pollution and degraded water quality, threatening fish consumption safety and public health. Any topic relates to water pollution and water quality; environmental ecosystem restoration; fish consumption; land use impact; environmental health is welcome to this session.
