Session ID#: 13809
Session Description:
Published open science datasets are discovered and used by consumers in a variety of ways, but little information about these experiences and the impact to science are exchanged between publishers and collaborators. Many times dataset publishers lack feedback from consumers about the types of communities accessing their data, metrics indicating how datasets are used, and the scientific value. Consumers generally lack effective ways to discuss usage experiences with fellow collaborators or know how to cite data used in their research. The goal of this session is to explore bridging the producer and consumer gap in the earth science community, through current real-world success stories, innovative approaches, and current challenges. Topics may include: community weighted data curation techniques, experimental reproducibility, data citation, identification, and measuring the lifecycle impact of data.
