Session Description:
In order to understand the interaction of the hydraulic fracturing with the reservoir, to answer the fundamental questions on both what reserves may be produced, as well as addressing environmental concerns, it is necessary to model the geomechanical response of the reservoir.   A number of geophysical technologies can be used to constrain the geomechanics.  For example, the microseismicity than can be detected during hydraulic fracturing can be used to describe the stress state, the fracture network, and describe the role of injected fluids in the fluid processes.   Other geophysical and geotechnical methods are actively being explored to describe the growth of fracturing through the reservoir, from electromagnetic sounding of conductive fluids and proppants to employing chemical tracers that can be used to show connectivity between wells.  In this session, we invite abstracts exploring geophysical and/or geotechnical methodologies on constraining and modelling the geomechanical behaviour of unconventional reservoir.
