Session Description:
Airborne missions, e.g. suborbital NASA's Operation IceBridge and Ocean Melting Greenland, ESA's CryoVEx, and GEUS's PROMICE, novel ground remote sensing using radar interferometers, and satellite-borne EU's Sentinel-1a/b, NASA's GRACE, Landsat-8 and EOS satellites, CSA's RADARSAT-2, ASI's Cosmo CSK, JAXA's ALOS PALSAR-2 and the US WV continuously improve our understanding of changes in polar ice sheets and glaciers from remote sensing platforms. These observations, combined with ground measurements and regional climate model output products provide a long-term record of observations of changes in polar land ice, its response to climate forcing, and its contribution to sea level change. We encourage submissions that combine satellite, airborne and in situ observations with output products from models to better understand Arctic and Antarctic land ice mass evolution and subsequently improve projections of ice sheet mass balance and contribution to sea level. Submissions focusing on single sensors with innovative approaches are also welcome.
