P31A:
Cracking Up: Ice-Ocean Dynamics on Earth and Ocean Worlds I Posters

Submit an Abstract to this Session Please know the abstract submission deadline has passed. There are no exceptions to this deadline and no new abstracts can be submitted.
You can still search the program to see your colleagues abstract submissions as well as the sessions submitted for the 2016 Fall Meeting. The final program will be released in early October.

Session ID#: 13931

Session Description:
Ice-fluid interactions are major contributors to the dynamic and often unpredictable processes observed across many "ocean worlds," including marine-terminating ice on Earth and the floating shells of distant icy satellites. However, our understanding of the physical processes controlling ice-ocean interaction remains limited, even on Earth. Bringing together Earth and planetary studies of ice-fluid interaction is the aim of this session, which invites abstracts focused on dynamic phenomena that arise in ices due to ice-fluid interactions.  This session is open to contributions regarding sea ice, glaciers and ice shelves, icy satellites, Pluto, and beyond. Examples of these dynamics range from sea ice drift and ice shelf collapse, to plumes on Enceladus, to chaos on Europa. Seeking to bridge Earth-planetary studies of ice-water interactions, we encourage studies on: in-situ/remotely-sensed observations; experimental/modeling campaigns of ice/ice-water regimes; impact of melt beneath or within ice; coupled ice-ocean physical and circulation models; analog studies.
